Bike Project Update

I Spent last night removing the old drop bars off of my newly purchased Terranaut.

This morning I drove home and installed the new Profile Design Bullhorns and Textro RX4.1 Reverse Levers long with new Yellow brake lines!

The bullhorns were a bear to get in the stem. Dad & I ended up having to grind some of the finish off to get them to slide through. Luckily i've got yellow bar tape which should be in Monday:)

Before:

Half Way:

After:

Also, the bike will not be a fixie or single speed for at least a few months. I would like to ride it the way that it is (10 speed) for the time being.

Single Speed Bike UPDATE

As mentioned in a previous post, i'm piecing together a single speed bike. I recently got an amazing deal on a 70's "Terranaut" touring bicycle. As far as I know, or what i've heard, is that Terranaut's were custom built here in STL by and for The Touring Cyclist (A guided touring company based out of STL). The frame is a beautiful deep red and has almost no nicks in the paint. I have ordered new parts and kept it under budget. Here is a pic of the bike:

List of new parts soon to be installed (When they arrive):
-Bullhorn Handle Bars
-Yellow Bar Tape
-Reverse Tektro Brake Levers
-Yellow Brake Cables
-Rear Rack (Will probably get painted yellow)
-Planet Bike Freddy Fenders Hardcore
-Water Bottle Cage (Yellow)

I will post new pictures as I install this new equipment!

Drank: Slow Your Roll (Or does it)

Did DRANK really slow my roll? NO. It didn't slow any roll that was happening. And I roll a lot. For Example, when crossing the desert in 1972...

After that Journey I quickly realized, this isn't for me. Deserts are just way too dry. I then moved to a more tropical climate to do some bird watching...

I then realized I should really not even being doing that. So I came back to St. Chas where I roll hard as a male model. As you can see in this picture, I keep it real.

Suck it DRANK.
Drank actually does slow rolls. This not a test.

3 movies, 2 days.

As in the previous blog... HSM3.

Today: Madagascar 2, Quantum of Solace

Madagascar 2
Not as good as the first one. But still good. Too much violence? I think so.

Quantum of Solace
James Bond being a hard ass. It's what he does. Some annoying kids sat behind us and the speakers rattled the theater, a bit annoying. The movie itself was great... A bit hard to figure out what was happening in some spots. Overall a worthwhile film.

Tomorrow I will be seeing "Gran Torino" with the parents. It is a very good movie, i've already seen it once.

I don't know...

I don't know what to blog about, but I felt like doing it.

Recently, I have been trying to sell this bike...

I'm on the hunt to build a new bike, a Fixie. Yes, it's a trendy style of bike to have but I think it will be fun to build my own bike. I am looking for a 70's Road Bike frame, preferably a Schwinn Racer w/ Fenders. At least that is the prime suspect. Otherwise any single speed frame with a standover height of 29-30" will do. From there I will hopefully paint it, probably black with yellow accents. I want the end product to look somewhat like this, but with fenders.

Hopefully this whole project will be completed by, lets say, the end of the semester.

Maybe, the bike swap meet on January 25th in Collinsville will speed the process up a bit:)

That is all for now.

Weekend Getaway

This weekend I was able to get away for a while and visit friends from UCM that are now living in Springfield, MO. It was a good time, we went to the symphony which was good but the music selections were not the most interesting.

I am now back in Saint Charles doing homework and a few other things I need to get taken care of.

Today, I tried eating the tea leaves. They came out of a gourmet tea packet but it was very weird to eat, so I didn't eat them. I would still like to give it a shot with real tea leaves, I think it could be good.

J-Term, Saint Charles, & Tea.

J-Term is about the only thing going on in my life right now. We have the equivelant to one weeks worth of class in 3 hours, every day. So 15 weeks of class in 15 days. Luckily, my teacher is somewhat animated with his lectures, so it is easy to pay attention. I usually end up taking notes several hours a night due to his lectures being powerpoint free, structure free, and student led. It makes it very interesting.

I like being in Saint Charles much more than I like being in Owensville. I have many more friends, things to do, and fun people to be around in St. Chas. I do think it's good to go to Owensville to slow down life a bit, it always seems to move very quickly when i'm at school.

I've started to enjoy Herbal Tea. I can't stand regular tea, but I particularly enjoy flavored herbal teas. Tonight, i got to thinking, why couldn't you just rip open the tea packet and just drink it along with the tea? Well according to a few websites you can, recommending you only do this with gourmet teas, rip open the tea packets & pour that into your tea. 35% of the "goodnesses" of tea are water soluble & the other 65% are in the leaves themselves. . . Think about that one.

Educated Guess's CD Release Party

Last night, my band, The Importance of Going Blind, opened for The Educated Guess's CD Release party.

I must say, it was a wonderful time & as always we love playing with The Educated Guess (I'm forced to say things like this because Charlie is my roommate). But in all honesty it was a great time.

The thing I was most surprised/pleased with at the show was the sound. I heard great reports about our sound being very crisp and defined. But, for the longest of times Charlie had been telling me about the "Orchestra" he would be playing with at this show. Since it was at Off Broadway, which doesn't have the biggest sound system/stage in the world. I was a bit concerned. It ended up excellent and everyone seemed to enjoy it.

That is all for now, I just loaded up my car and am getting ready to head back to school for J-Term & a lot of cycling.

New Years Goals: Update my Blog more, Keep in touch with more people, & Not eat so unhealthily.
